Memories of Dad
Dad passed away September 23rd, 2020. He was a lifetime resident of Lancaster and spent many years working and volunteering his time to the community. Dad knew the importance of sports and activities for the children of the community; he volunteered many hours looking after the local outdoor rink, organizing winter carnivals, snowmobile races, fishing tournaments, baseball teams, broomball teams and Dad enjoyed helping out with the annual Santa Clause Parades.
As Road Superintendent for the village, Dad worked long hours in the winter making sure roads and sidewalks were cleared as soon as possible for folks in the village. Later on, Dad (aka “Cou”) managed the corner gas station, serving his customers with a smile and a joke. The station was also a meeting place for the local fellas to gather, tell a few jokes, talk fishing and have their fill of the coffee brewing in the coffee maker.
Dad was a loving husband to Jeannine, and father to six children (Jacques Jr, Gerard, Helene, Gilles, Therese and Robert). He enjoyed the St Lawrence River and taking the pontoon out into the river for a ride with Jeannine and his youngest son Robbie. Dad also enjoyed heading out to his favorite fishing spots with family and dropping a line to catch a few perch. Dad shared his passion for fishing with anyone who had an interest.
Dad's annual fish fries were second to none; perch was battered and deep fried to a crispy golden texture topped with his special fish sauce. Relatives and friends looked forward to the fish fries every summer. He also loved to celebrate family Christmas and New Years with a traditional late evening turkey dinner with all the fixings which included his delicious meat pies, music & laughter. On New Years Eve celebrations also included the traditional midnight shotgun shooting into the sky to shoot out the old year and welcome the new.
His family, children and grandchildren and friends have many special moments to remember.
Rest peacefully Dad; you're with Mom & Robbie now.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time of sorrow.
I remember Coo ( Jacques) when he ran the gas station in Lancaster when I lived there.
He would always be funny and made me laugh.
