Obituary for Teresa McDonald

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Teresa McDonald (nee Chisholm) who passed away on Tuesday August 25, 2020 at Maxville Manor. Teresa was the beloved wife of the late Cuthbert McDonald. Together with Cuthbert, she was proud of the loving family of 10 children they raised, Helen Ann (Marty) Dillon; Carmel (Wallee) MacDonell; Joan (Bill) Brooks; Jean (Peter) Graham; Charlie (Patty); Marion (Gene) Penko; Brian (Nancy); Marty; Colleen (Chris); Frances (Peter) Vanderburg. Lovingly known as Nanny and Grammie, she was proud of their 30 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Teresa was born in St. Andrew’s, the daughter of the late Angus and Katherine (Higgins) Chisholm and the beloved sister of the late Mary, William, Donald, Francis, and Sheldon. She is survived by 4 dear sisters, Rita, Inez, Hilda, and Marie. As an active member of the Glen Roy community and St Raphael’s Parish, she lead the church choir for more than 40 years, organized meals at the parish hall, and was a long standing Galarama organizer contributing for many years to the entertainment program. Her beautiful quilts were always a top fund raiser. Teresa loved a gathering, small or large. Many times, she was the instigator contributing delicious food, often apple pies, and fun games. Family brought her great joy. She enjoyed every phone call and visit with her children and their families. During family gatherings at her home, she was usually the last to bed and first to rise because “she didn’t want to miss a moment of the fun”. We, her family, loved her boundless energy, her hugs & kisses, and countless acts of generosity and selflessness. She will forever be celebrated at every family gathering. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 1 pm. Interment will follow in St. Raphael’s Parish Cemetery. For those who wish to view the Funeral Service live online may do so at the following link www.facebook.com/kavproductions/live beginning on Saturday, September 5 at 1 pm. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 114 Main St. South., Alexandria (613-525-2772). Teresa’s family would like to thank Dr. Rossback and the staff, nurses, and caregivers at Maxville Manor for their many kindnesses. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maxville Manor or St. Raphael’s Parish would be appreciated by the family. As a Memorial to Teresa, a tree will be planted in a Memory Woods.
