Obituary for Shawn Patrick Coney

Shawn Patrick Coney, March 2, 1988. With great sadness, the family of Shawn Coney announces his passing at the age of 33 on June 6, 2021. Beloved husband of Chelsea Coney (née Lalonde) and cherished Daddy to Abagale and Eleanor. Devoted and loving son to John and Debbi Coney (nee Couchman), much loved brother to Jeffrey Coney. Dear son in law to Dan & Sandra Lalonde. Predeceased by his grandparents, Shawn was adored by many aunts, uncles and cousins, especially his Godfather Bob Couchman and Godmother Murielle Mallette. He leaves his close friends Jessie Massia, Phil Wood, Dan Ward, Shawn Manwell, Mireille Marchand, Karen Jones, and Robbie McKendrik who continue to provide love and support for Chelsea and the girls and his family. Shawn and Chelsea fell in love in college. They loved each other deeply and their happiest days were when they became husband and wife and when they became parents to their beautiful girls. They worked hard and continued their education while raising their little family. Shawn’s thirst for knowledge and inquisitive nature can be seen in his children. He was a loving dad and he taught Abby and Ellie how to learn anything so they can achieve whatever they may desire. As a perpetual student of life, Shawn was continuously learning and achieved 3 college diplomas, recently achieving his dream of opening his own business when he graduated his IT & Networks program in March. He loved his family and friends deeply and was happiest when everyone was together at the dinner table or a backyard party just being with each other. We will miss him most for his sharing and supportive nature and his kind and loving heart. When you called Shawn, he was there. He was our husband, father, son, brother, in-law, nephew and friend and will always be remembered with grateful hearts and an abundance of love for having had him in our lives. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd in Lancaster, Ontario. Due to pandemic restrictions, a memorial service will be held at a later date when we can all gather together as he would have wanted. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Shawn’s memory can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association www.cmha.ca. As a Memorial to Shawn a tree will be planted in a memory woods. A tree grows - memories live.
