Peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital – Civic Campus on Thursday June 4, 2020. Riekus Wensink of Maxville; age 79 years. Beloved husband of the late Fernande Wensink (nee Lacombe). Loving father of Ricky (Vera), Susan (Raymond), Kathy (Allison), Geraldine St. Denis (Robert), David (Jackie) and Robert. Dear brother of Herman Wensink, and Dini McNaughton. Predeceased by four brothers Joseph (late Marlene), George (Nellie), Bill (Gail) and John (late Annie), and by one sister Drika Hooft (late Derk). Dear son of the late Derk Jan Wensink and the late Gerharda Somsen. Survived by 17 grandchildren: Josh, Jennifer, Jaleesa, Shawn, Allan, Shannon, Jessica, Cody, Hadie, Jake, Andrew, Adam, Tracy, Megan, Cheyanne, Bailey and Logan; also by 15 great-grandchildren with another to arrive shortly. He will be missed by his close friend Simone Laferriere. Funeral arrangements under the care and direction of the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 20 Main St. South, Maxville (613-527-2898). A private Funeral Service was be held in the Chapel of the Munro & Morris Funeral Home. Interment followed in the St Catherine of Sienna Cemetery, Greenfield. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. As a Memorial to Riekus a tree will be planted in a memory woods. A tree grows-memories live.
