Obituary for Michael Craig

Michael Edward Craig peacefully passed away at Hospice Cornwall on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at the age of 46. He is survived by his devoted wife Melissa (MacDonald) Craig and their two sons James and Jacob whom he adored. He is also survived by his parents Hugh and Bev (Vaughn) Craig, his in laws Gordon and Hazel (McMillan) MacDonald, his loving sister Kerri Craig, his two brother-in-laws Ian McDonald and Ryan MacDonald, his sister-in-law Samantha Penny, and his two "favourite" nieces Olivia and Adelaide MacDonald, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Michael grew up in Kemptville, excelled in Junior A hockey for the Smiths Fall Bears, and attended St. Lawrence University where he received his Masters Degree in Education. Michael was a well loved teacher at both General Vanier and Cornwall Collegiate where he selflessly assisted so many students. He especially loved his time as "Special Olympics" coach for his school. He was a well respected person in the hockey scouting community as a scout for the Oshawa Generals OHL, and various CJHL clubs. Michael was a well known face for the South Stormont Hockey Association and Cornwall Minor Lacrosse Association as an executive member and coach. In the end Mike accepted his fate with dignity. REST IN PEACE COACH MIKE. Visitation will be held at the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 114 Main St. South, Alexandria (613-525-2772) on Friday, July 14, 2023 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Finnan's Basilica on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 10 am. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery.
