At the Glengarry Memorial Hospital surrounded by family on Wednesday November 27, 2019. Mary Van Loon (née Van de Wetering) of Alexandria; age 88. Born in Son, Holland on March 10, 1931. Loving wife of the late Denny Van Loon of 66 years. Dear 'Ma' of Annie St. Denis (Adrian), Henrietta MacSweyn (Barry), Jacalyn Bray (Denis), Audrey Kennedy (Gerard), Rosemary Doyle (Martin), Denny (Kim) and Shirley Hay (Darrell). 'Oma' to many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Survived by 3 sisters Johanna, Jean & Tina. Predeceased by one granddaughter, by her parents Antonius Van de Wetering and Hendrika Van de Heuvel and by sister Betsie & Marinus Van Pinxteren, brothers Anthony & Henrica(Rovers) Wetering, Bert & Ann(Van den Elzen) Wetering, sister Antonia & John Van Sleuwen, sister Riek Van Rens (Bert) and brother in law Ben Ruiter (Jean). Mary loved to knit and crochet. She kept the family supplied with slippers, hats & mitts. She also loved to play cards. She will be fondly remembered by her Palace Retirement Home family. Family and friends can pay their respects at the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 114 Main St. South, Alexandria (613-525-2772) on Sunday, December 1, 2019 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm and on Monday from 9:30 am until 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Finnan’s Cathedral on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 11:00 am. Interment in the St. Catherine of Sienna Parish Cemetery, Greenfield. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations to Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. As a Memorial to Mary a tree will be planted in a memory woods.
