Obituary for Louis Gilbert "Lulu" Denis

Peacefully at the Cornwall Community Hospital, Louis Gilbert “Lulu” Denis of Cornwall; age 94 years. He leaves behind his children Suzanne, Joanne and Daniel, as well as four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews, and by his adopted family, the Brady’s. He is predeceased by his parents and nine siblings.
Lulu spent 14 seasons with the professional Quebec Senior Hockey League’s Montreal Royals. When he retired in 1961, he was captain of the team and his number 16 was retired along with him. He was loaned to the Montreal Canadiens in 1949-50 and again in 1950-51. He played a total of three games with the Habs. Lulu loved to share stories about his days playing with Maurice Richard, Jean Béliveau, Hugh Currie and Doug Harvey.
Arrangements under the care and direction of the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 46 Oak St. Lancaster (613-347-3629). A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 11 am at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Lancaster. The family will be in attendance from 10-10:45 am. Inurnment in the columbarium at the Parish cemetery following the Mass. As expressions of sympathy, Memorial Donations to the charity of your choice, would be appreciated by the family.
