A lifelong resident of Alexandria Jim was owner and operator of Glengarry Motor Sales (Chev-Olds) and later the White Rock Motel. He served the community for 35 years as a member of the Alexandria volunteer Fire Department services, for many years as sub-chief. He, also along with his late brother-in-law, Doug Baxter, envisioned and built the Alexandria airstrip which evolved into the local Flying Club, there they had many successful fly-in breakfasts over the years. He had a genuine interest in local history and had many recollections of Alexandria’s earlier history.
