Obituary for Elspeth Greer (Brown)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elspeth Alison Greer.

With her family and beloved husband Brian by her side, Elspeth passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16. Elspeth will be deeply missed by her children Graham (Lori), Ruth (Neil), John. Her four grandchildren Liam, Ben, Rohin and Norah will miss their Nana so much.

Predeceased by her brother Alexander, she will be missed by her sister-in-law Bel of Victoria, BC, brothers David (Donna) of St. John’s, NL, and Iain (Donna) of Williamstown, ON, her cherished nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

In her family, Elspeth was called “our one ewe lamb” having been born the second of four children to Elizabeth Helen Welsh and John Cameron Brown in Renfrew, Scotland. They emigrated to Canada to the Montreal area, where Elspeth and Brian met in Ste. Rose de Laval. After they married in 1968, they happily settled in Williamstown, Ontario, then in Summerstown, ON. Elspeth was a registered nurse who truly loved caring for patients, and later enjoyed teaching in the nursing program.

Elspeth will be remembered for her boundless love and pride for her children and grandchildren, calm and steady demeanour, sharp sense of humour (delighting her grandchildren with the occasional inability to remember a crucial punchline), creativity, love of nature, gardening, art and travel — she was always keen to travel and explore with Brian and their kids.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Diane Poilly and Dr. Anthony Di Cintio for their excellent and compassionate care during Elspeth’s last weeks.
