Obituary for Edward "Ted" Orwell

Edward "Ted" Orwell
On March 14, 2019 at the Cornwall Hospice, surrounded by his girls and grandson, our precious “Teddy” of Donwell Farms, Green Valley, Ontario, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

He is dearly missed by his beloved wife and best friend Donna (née Hamilton) and adoring children, Krista and Alyson Hubrecht (Tom). He was a proud “Poppy Bear” to Ambrose Edward Hubrecht and loving godfather to Jeff Bulmer. Born in Montreal West, Québec, Ted is predeceased by his parents, Albert and Evelyn (née Adams), along with his dear sisters, Carol (late Cam) and Susan (late Elliott). We will remember Ted as a dedicated educator, hard-working farmer, lover of all creatures great and small, special needs advocate, loving husband and father.

Friends and family are invited to gather at Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 114 Main Street North, Alexandria, Ontario (613-525-2772) on Friday, March 22nd between 6:30 to 8:30 pm and Saturday, March 23rd between 10:00 to 11:00 am. A Celebration of Ted’s spirited life will follow on Saturday, March 23rd at 11:00 am. Anyone wishing to share a story or memory is invited to do so, with refreshments to follow.

Ted and his family extend their most sincere gratitude to the many health care professionals, support staff, family and friends who have helped Ted since his diagnosis. Special thanks to those from the McGill University Health Centre ENT and Oncology departments, Bayshore Home Care and Hospice Cornwall who, in Ted’s words, provided “upstanding” care, along with smiles, hugs, humour and compassion. We cannot thank you enough for going above and beyond, on a daily basis for those in need.

In lieu of flowers, Ted would appreciate donations be made to Community Living Glengarry or the Canadian Cancer Society, in his name. As a memorial to Ted a tree will be planted in Memory Woods.
