Obituary for Colleen Kennedy (O'Farrell)

Peacefully at Lancaster Long-Term Care Residence on Monday, October 17, 2022. Mary (Colleen) Kennedy (nee O’Farrell) of Bainsville, Ontario; age 82 years. Colleen was the beloved wife of the late Ewen Kennedy (2021). Loving mother of Shannon McDougald (Steve) and Karen Moran (Mike). Cherished grandmother of Kathleen and Meaghan McDougald, and Jennifer and Liam Moran. Dear sister of Noreen Richer (Rene), Brian O’Farrell, Joe O’Farrell (Katherine), Anne McDonald (Clarence), Gerard O’Farrell (Linda), Helen Sloan (Gary), and Garry O’Farrell (Patricia). Colleen is predeceased by her brother, Dennis O’Farrell (the late Enid), and her parents, Francis and Kathleen (nee O’Keefe) O’Farrell.
Colleen was born and raised on a dairy farm in St. Andrews West. Colleen went on to train as a teacher in Toronto and Ottawa, and worked as an educator for the next 34 years in the role of Teacher, Principal and Curriculum Co-ordinator while earning her Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Education degrees at University of Ottawa.
After retirement from SD&G Roman Catholic Separate School Board, Colleen joined Ewen in the development of Kennedy Redwood Estates. Colleen enjoyed golf, curling, travel and volunteer work with the Friends of the Ruins- St. Raphael’s for many years. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, caring mother and devoted grandmother.
The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at Lancaster Long-Term Care Residence for their many acts of kindness and compassion. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Munro and Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 114 Main Street South, Alexandria, ON (613-525-2772). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Raphael’s Parish on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 11:00 am, followed by interment in the Parish cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, Memorial Donations may be made to the Friends of the Ruins-St. Raphael’s Ruins, and are appreciated by the family.
