The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Claude Provost can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

William (Doré) Garland

One of my earliest childhood memories is having the privilege of Claude allowing me to choose a chocolate bar from the curved-glass and wood cabinet at the front of the store, along that massive original store counter. Claude was always there, as was the history of his family's general store. The feeling that time stood still, but that no time had passed since the last time I visited the traditional retail space, was always comforting. Comforting, too, was the fact that Claude’s store and his home were filled with the memories of his family and community. These memories continued to live through Claude's sharing of his history, of his wartime stories and recollections of his brothers and family and their collective history, and that of the village, so proudly displayed in his gallery. The past was preserved in the general store, but Claude, who had an eye for beauty in his gallery and appreciation for sensible progress in his business, kept in the present as well, always keeping up with cash register technology, and knowing all the goings-on in the community. Claude’s friendly demeanour, willingess to chat, charitable gestures to the community, and his connection to family members already lost will be sorely missed. But, we all know Claude, his family and old friends are all enjoying good times somewhere, reminiscing about the good old days. On behalf of my mother, Sheila Doré, myself, and Sean, and I am sure the rest of our family who knew Claude, we extend our sympathies to the family and to all in Moose Creek.
