Peacefully at the Hillsdale Estates Long-Term Care, Oshawa on Monday, November 18, 2019. Catriena Suzanna Vander Byl "Cathy" of Oshawa; formerly of Lochiel; age 61 years. Beloved daughter of the late William and Margaret Vander Byl (nee Van Aalsum). Loving sister of Rudie Vander Byl (Bev) and Dick Vander Byl (Monique) both of Lochiel, Jack Vander Byl (Michelle) of Portland, ON, Megan McWade (John) of Alexandria, Adrian Vander Byl (Elaine), Fredric van der Bijl (Sara), Henry Vander Byl, and Helen Vander Byl (Ray Buczynski) of Whitby, Tony Vander Byl (Jo-Anne) of Lochiel and Connie Vander Byl (Ryder McRitchie) of Calgary, Alberta. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Finnan’s Cathedral, Alexandria on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 11 am. Interment will follow in the St. Alexander’s Cemetery, Lochiel. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 114 Main St. South, Alexandria (613-525-2772). As expressions of sympathy Memorial Donations to Canadian Down Syndrome Society (Suite 103- 2003 14St. N.W., Calgary Alberta T2M 3N4 or cdss.ca) or to Community Living Glengarry (332 MacDonald Blvd, Alexandria, Ontario KOC 1AO) would be appreciated by the family. As a memorial to Cathy, a tree will be planted in a Memory Woods.
